Schlagwort-Archive: Optimism

Summertime is starting early this year
Beauty and love are everywhere
A butterfly up high in the sky
Spreading its wings learning to fly

Each breath taken feels new to me
The mind being utterly free
No regrets burden the thoughts
Inside the heart there is no remorse

Everything suddenly seems so clear
Brightness around smothers all fear
The future is nothing but a mystery
Hope is that what always guides me

Lightning will not interrupt my flight
Dark clouds will not blinden my sight
Thunder will not scare me away
Rain will drive away all birds of prey

A look in the mirror proves it’s still just me
No judas tree and no killer bee
No posing to cover up my game
No charade put on to betray

My butterfly will not be caught
It will survive the longest drought
My butterfly has found the sun
And never will this come undone

I am free

Jan Wendler

In my latest poem, Free, I somehow tried to express how I feel at the moment. Spring is underway, all hopes for a great summer are high. There are many great things to do and it’s full of chances and sun and freedom.

I realized a couple of things about myself lately that have burdened my heart for a very long time without me knowing… It feels great to be able to finally be able to grasp them.

I fell asleep with a smile yesterday 🙂

Ahead is barred
Nowhere to go
Feeling mislead
Raped in the head

The path now clear
And full of hope
We are guided
All parts cohere

The road is the same
Nothing has changed
Only the perception
With which we play the game

Everytime something in our life leaves
We just see hurt inside we weep
Through anxiety new hope is born
And it is ours to keep.

Smile, think of the times that are past,
Don’t regret unsaid nor cry hidden tears.
In your mind good will always last,
Constantly be near.

Life is a path full of doors ahead
Some open most shut tight
The closed ones are mostly in your head
True Freedom is worth the fight.

Jan Wendler

This poem is about perception.
About always having the option to look at an event from different angles. And about…what was that famous saying?
“Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end”.
I guess it goes somewhere along that line, be happy for the times you had and look forward.

The broken road

The broken road

The road has been dark for a long long time,
Forgotten that there’s a sun that shines.
Each pothole’s a burden trying to make us give up,
Where is the glimmer of light to make our lives erupt?

Life starts off easy, later we have to search hard to prevail,
Resentment and mistrust are promises to fail.
Search for a kind spark in every strange face,
Give people reason to believe this is a better place.

The stars to reach for are not in the sky,
They are much closer, maybe in a stranger’s eye.
Take every chance you will ever get,
Say yes to life and always hope for the best.

With fear inside you you’ll never see,
The true person you were made to be.
Look everywhere with conscious eyes,
It’s your only hope to really be alive.

Lough loud and be happy no matter what others think,
They’re only jealous because they think their life stinks.
Be the person you should in this one life you’re in,
‘Cause giving up on yourself is the ultimate sin.

The road has been dark for a very long time,
Believe in yourself and your sun will shine.
Through love and kindness the potholes are paved,
Through friendship and truth our lives will be saved.

Jan Wendler

I think this is a proper poem to start off the new year with.
A plea to everyone to be themselves, live life and never give up.
Love, kindness, friendship, truth, I think those are good New Year resolutions 🙂
